  1. Hi mam,
This is Shakthi vendhan. According to me, Listening skill is the foremost among the others. Though it is considered to be a passive skill, only this skill work from behind and makes the other active skills to work effectively.
Can it be taught effectively using technology?
Yes, it is possible and it will be very effective. When compare to the ancient times, after the emergence of technology listening is seen as one among the important skills. And also it is considered that those who know to listen can only enhance in the other skills.

  2. Good Evening Mam.

I feel listening skill can be taught effectively using technology. Technology is useful to teach listening because technology provides opportunities for students to explore their ranges of listening strategies. And it allows for more emphasis on certain aspects, such as cross-cultural, interactional, critical, and contextual dimensions of listening, to be developed. Technology also makes learning process of listening more entertaining. Using media, for example radio, televison or AV from youtube could be an effective way to develop students listening skills and build up student confidence in listening since the students have a direct access to listen to the native speakers.

    Thank You Mam.

  3. Hello mam.

Technology can be used effectively in Language teaching by the use of tools such as online tools and offline tools. I thought that reading could be effectively taught through technology. We are using projectors these days in classroom to make students read the slides, story, an excerpt from a text, etc. Teachers may use blended learning techniques like webquest to test the learners reading skills. In webquest there should be links given by the teacher , which was a passage from some online source. Students have to click that link ,read in online and they have to answer the questions after that. In this way students explore more online sources which will enhance their reading practice. They can do the activities in their own place and time.
We are using laptops and computers to read novels through Adobe reader. A teacher don't have the need to give the hardcopy of the text in the class and making students to make photocopy. The teacher may simply attach the book in pdf format to email and send it to the students. It is quick and time saving too.
For teaching all levels of students we have various kinds of posters, worksheets, online activities in internet. We have online websites like http://teacher.scholastic.com/commclub/animal_moves_activity/page-4.htm
In this site, a learner can see the reading text in the screen with pictures and visual effects.so, reading practice can be possible through websites.
Earlier students will carry books to the class. Nowadays we have iPads and smartphones where we can store as many books as possible. We have mobile apps like kindle where we can download books in minimum cost.We can download the text of any poem at anytime to teach or to learn. We have online book readers like Google books. A student can read any book in online through Google books reader.we have online libraries where we can download more books.
Teacher can give lot of extension activities to improve reading skill. We have Google forms where a teacher can type a reading text and ask questions based on the text. We can send it through mails to the students. We may post a passage or story in the blog and we may give questions based on the text. We may give an online test within a limited time duration to read the text and answer the questions in language lab. A teacher can show an online webpage of newspapers like Hindu, dailythandhinext in the classroom and make students aware of the present happenings and give an exposure of reading articles and world news.Activity will be given by the teacher based on that.
With the help of technological tools it is possible to teach reading skills effectively.
    Thank you.

  4. LANGUAGE SKILLS AND TECHNOLOGY
    SPEAKING
    Good morning mam
Giving learners the advantage of communicating in real time conversation with English speakers, probably the most exciting technological advancements has come in the form of Skype and FaceTime. Tools such as videoconferencing a offer teachers the opportunity to link to other classes around the world also gaining support from other teachers and students.
There are many new apps on the market for speaking with other learners such as CoffeeStrap and HelloTalk, means one can talk with the native speakers from one phone. No webcam required anymore.
These technological advancements can help you advance in our English learning, now it's at our palm in the form of Android mobile phones.

    Thank you mam

  5. Technology enhances all the four skills. Listening, speaking, reading and writing ( LSRW) are made easy because the of usage of technology in education. But still in countries like India, where English is used as a second language, the role of speaking is done effectively by the use of technology. The students who are unable to speak a word or two begin to speak very well because of the continuous usage of Technology. SL learner read, listen, write English for a particular period alone but they do speak English though out their life and this is possible with the use of technology. Unconscious teaching is possible only with an intervention of technology and when one learns unconsciously, it stands on the memory of a person for a long time and so according to me Technology enhances speaking in a better manner.

  6. Hi mam,
Technology enhances the basic four skills such as litening, speaking, writing and reading. There are several websites and apps are created for enhancing these skills. I personally thought that among these skills technology is used vastly in enhancing listening and also in reading. Lot of materials are available in the internet as we are all step into the age of technology. It is hard to be seen those who don't have any relationship with technology. Online libraries are available at any time even in the night so that one can have the advantage to read books any time at any place. The kindle version of books plays vital role in accessing books through online. Books can be attained by anyone those who have the access of technology. Reading was done by in a different way but it was developed in the modern age and the young people those who are always excited with the technology was interested in learning with technology rather than with the books of printed version.

  7. Greetings Madam,

According to me I believe that writing skill can be taught effectively through technology. I acknowledge that the other three skills can also be taught but writing can be made easier through digital writing (typing). There are many platforms to improve writing; they are Blogs, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc. Our thoughts are expressed in these platforms through writing. This gives an opportunity to the learner to write. The learner who feel shy and escapes to express through speaking can easily sit at home and write his thoughts by updating his status or commenting. Blogs give the learner a wide opportunity to bring their flow of thoughts in words. The broad space liberates the learner’s thoughts. WhatsApp and Facebook provide space for the learners to update what they feel at that moment. This status writing makes some learners become creative writers. In these two applications the teacher can initiate an argument or a story line and the students can continue it in a coherent manner. This develops writing and creative writing at times. Instagram is the place where people post their pictures. This can be used to develop a learner’s writing skill by task like Caption writing. A picture can be posted by the teacher and the students can attempt to give a suitable caption or a one line story. There are also many other ways to improve writing through technology. Technology has spoiled only handwriting but helped writing.

    Thank you madam.

  8. Greetings ma’am,
I feel listening and writing skill can be effectively taught using technology. I’m unable to fix to either one. For students to learn a second language effectively, authentic and rich contextualized materials are very necessary. The students should have access to a variety of input either in the form of audio or video or text. Technology makes this possible very easily. The important requisite for learning any language is to listen to it more. And technology provides opportunity to listen to highly authentic input, which enhances their learning of the language.
Technology offers a wide platform for learners to express their knowledge in the form of writing. There are various apps, online writing tools etc that help learners create better pieces of writing. Self assessment is one big advantage of writing using technology. Moreover technology helps cross spatial and temporal boundaries which gives more ideas for learners and also helps them learn ethics of both formal and informal writing. Assessment and giving feedback also becomes comparatively easier and effective.

    Thank you ma'am.

  9. Good Morning mam,
This is G.Sandhiya Devi. According to me, listening skill can be taught effectively using technology. The advent of smart phone has made the teaching-learning process more interesting. Using interactive exercises in the classroom with the help of technology, we can train all levels of the learners. Listening exercises like radio interview, personal conversation, introducing a friend etc., will trigger the learners’ quest towards language acquisition. Once they gain confidence in this skill, without any conscious effort they move on to reading habit. With the help of technology, the teacher can send worth reading text to develop their extensive reading as well.

  11. Good evening Ma’m,
According to me, listening skill can be effectively taught using technology. As it requires maximum concentration while learning this skill, the technology provides an environment which interests the learners. Also, learning, testing and assessing the listening skill is easier because of technology and it is uniformly provided. That is, the voice of technology ( as in recorded voice notes) is widely accepted than the verbal communication of the teacher (whose second language is English, i.e., in country like India) in all the cases. Standardization is provided among learners in teaching listening skill using technology. Example is testing listening skill in IELTS and TOEFL.
    Thank you, Ma’m.

  12. Good night mam, I hold the view that listening and writing skills can be effectively taught through technology. Technology is useful to learn all the four skills but listening and writing skills can be taught effectively because there are various useful sources available to teach the learners in a better way. When it comes to listening if a learner feels that he/ she is having difficulty to understand a subject they can listen lectures in YouTube and other resources there are various applications like byju’s where subjects are taught easily in a interesting way. They can also listen to lectures in Khan academy which is absolutely free. Even the teachers who are not possible to meet in real life sometimes it becomes easy to listen to their lectures through these technologies. When it comes to writing again there are various sources like grammarly ,readability- score.com etc. Where writing skills can be learnt effectively. Though it has its own pros and cons. I would say that these two skills can be taught effectively using technology.

  15. Greetings Mam,

    TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION

Technology plays a vital role in education. It can stimulate the playfulness of learners and immerse them in a variety of scenarios. It gives learners a chance to engage in self-directed actions, opportunities for self-paced interactions, privacy, and a safe environment in which errors get corrected and specific feedback is given. Feedback by a machine offers additional value by its ability to track mistakes and link the student immediately to exercises that focus on specific errors. Studies are emerging that show the importance of qualitative feedback in softwares. When links are provided to locate explanations, additional help, and reference, the value of technology is further augmented.

According to me, speaking skill can be effectively taught with the use of technology. Students should be taken to the communication lab. Softwares are available to develop speaking skills. By incorporating suitable software through computers the students will play it again and again with their own interest and try to improve their speaking skills, which are most essential in this modernized IT world. The usage of headphones in the lab makes the students to have interest over the subject and induces them to repeat again and again instead of feeling boredom.

  16. READING SKILL USING TECHNOLOGY

If students can’t easily decode the words, they will have difficulty with reading for meaning. We must tackle the teaching of reading head on by infusing many different strategies that will help all of our learners to be successful. It will self dependent not on teachers guide but they will act as passive in most of time. Instruction must address differentiation, flexible grouping, balanced literacy, multiple intelligence, and the learning styles that walk into our classrooms each and every day, Teachers using technology can create a learning environment that allows students to make connections between what they read, themselves, other texts, and the world around them. Multimedia anticipation guides, electronic graphic organizers, online interviews with authors, and interactive discussion boards for students bring new meaning to how students can collaboratively construct responses to fiction and non-fiction. I like to use technology for reading and it is effectively followed in India for both colleges and schools.
    To improve readers
1 word attacking skills, 2 compression skill, 3 motivations, 4 successful and independent
APPS, WEBS SEARCHS, BLOGS can be used for reading in outside of the classroom also.
There are many apps for reading such Siri, google speech, laptop, phone, chrome reader or google search for all stages, TTS, Audio books & digital TTS, books, OCR, graphic organizer, display controls as dictionary’s and thesaurus used mostly kids’ education, soft and hardware devices also there to enhance skills for reading.
